मुंबई, दि.९: केरळमधील कालडी येथे जन्मलेल्या आद्य शंकराचार्यांनी देशातील चार भागात बद्रीनाथ, रामेश्वरम, जगन्नाथ पुरी व द्वारिकापुरी येथे धर्मपीठे निर्माण करून देशाची एकात्मता अखंड राखली. त्यामुळे भारत देश एकसंध ठेवण्यात केरळचे योगदान फार मोठे आहे, असे प्रतिपादन राज्यपाल भगतसिंह कोश्यारी यांनी येथे केले.
राज्यपाल श्री. कोश्यारी यांच्या प्रमुख उपस्थितीत रविवारी (दि. ८) केरळ ख्रिश्चन कौन्सिल, मुंबई या संस्थेचा ६५ वा वार्षिकोत्सव तसेच नाताळ व नववर्ष स्वागत समारोह कॅनोसा सभागृह, अंधेरी, मुंबई येथे संपन्न झाला, त्यावेळी ते बोलत होते.
“भारतीय भाषा देशाला जोडण्याचे महत्त्वाचे काम करतात. त्यामुळे प्रत्येकाने मातृभाषेतील शिक्षणाला महत्त्व दिले पाहिजे,असे नमूद करून, राष्ट्रीय शैक्षणिक धोरणामध्ये मातृभाषेतील शिक्षणावर भर देण्यात आला”असल्याचे राज्यपालांनी सांगितले. तसेच सुरुवातीचे शिक्षण मातृभाषेत झाल्यास इतर भाषा शिकणे सुलभ होते, असे सांगून आपण राज्यातील विद्यापीठांचे कुलपती या नात्याने राज्यातील सर्व दीक्षान्त समारंभ मराठी भाषेतूनच संचलित करण्याचा दंडक घालून दिल्याचे, त्यांनी सांगितले.
भारताने सर्व धर्मांचा व विभिन्न धर्ममतांचा नेहमीच आदर केला आहे. ‘वादे वादे जायते तत्वबोधः’ ही या देशातील परंपरा आहे. त्यामुळे धर्म कोणताही असला तरीही भारतीय म्हणून आपण एक झाले पाहिजे. केरळने देशाला पी. टी. उषा सारखी धावपटू दिली आहे, तर महाराष्ट्राला पी. सी. अलेक्झांडर व के शंकरनारायणन यांसारखे उत्तम राज्यपाल दिले आहेत असे राज्यपालांनी सांगितले. संस्थेचे अध्यक्ष बाबू वर्गिस यांनी संस्थेच्या स्थापनेच्या इतिहासाची तसेच संस्था करीत असलेल्या सामाजिक, धर्मादाय व सांस्कृतिक कार्याची माहिती दिली.
राज्यपालांच्या हस्ते ६५ व्या वार्षिक दिन स्मरणिकेचे प्रकाशन करण्यात आले, गुणवंत विद्यार्थी तसेच संस्थेचे ज्येष्ठ सदस्य यांचा राज्यपालांच्या हस्ते सत्कार करण्यात आला. बारावीच्या परीक्षेत मराठी तसेच हिंदी भाषेत सर्वाधिक गुण मिळविणाऱ्या केरळी विद्यार्थ्यांचा यावेळी सत्कार करण्यात आला.
कार्यक्रमाला लोकप्रिय मल्याळी चित्रपट निर्माते, दिग्दर्शक व अभिनेते रेंजी पणिकर, केरळ ख्रिश्चन कौन्सिलचे अध्यक्ष बाबू वर्गिस, महासचिव सायमन वर्की, निमंत्रक बिनु चंडी, ख्रिस्ती धर्मगुरू परिषदेचे सदस्य तसेच निमंत्रित उपस्थित होते.

Governor presides over the Annual Day celebrations of Kerala Christian Council Mumbai
Mumbai 9: Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari presided over the 65th Annual Day celebrations and Christmas and New Year Celebrations organised by the Kerala Christian Council in Mumbai on Sunday (8 Jan).
Speaking on the occasion the Governor Koshyari hailed the contribution of Kerala in keeping the nation united. He said Adi Sankaracharya established four peethas in different corners of the country at Badrinath, Rameshwaram, Jagannath Puri and Dwarika Puri. This according to him helped in achieving the integration of the nation. Congratulating film star and director Renji Panicker for making his speech in Malayalam, the Governor stressed the need to promote education in the mother tongue.
Mentioning that the National Education Policy 2020 lays emphasis on education in the mother tongue at the primary level, Koshyari said at his instance all universities in Maharashtra are conducting their Convocation Ceremonies in Marathi. Stating that he learnt Marathi since coming to Maharashtra, he appealed to the members of the Kerala community to also try to learn Marathi.
According to the Chairman Babu Varghese, Kerala Christian Council, the socio, cultural and philanthropic organisation representing all Christian denominations of Kerala in Mumbai was set up in the year 1958. He said apart from organizing Onam and Christmas celebrations, the Council runs several humanitarian projects for the needy and the underprivileged.
The Governor released the 65th Annual Day Souvenir and felicitated meritorious students and senior members of the Kerala Christian Council.
Malayalam actor, filmmaker and director Renji Panicker, Chairman of Kerala Christian Council Babu O. Varghese, General Secretary Simon Varkey, Convener Binu Chandy, Church fathers and members of the Council were present.
